A pitched canopy over a produce island does two useful things: it gives the fixture a roofline that reads from across the store, and it gives signage and lighting somewhere to live. It also does one harmful thing if it is built solid, which is trap warm still air directly above wet produce. This canopy is perforated across its whole face for exactly that reason.
Below it the island is square and worked from four sides, with panels in a crate-slat pattern set into a black steel frame. Four-sided access means no face is a back, so a store can put this in the middle of the department and let traffic flow around it rather than past it.

Timber board, open pattern
The panels are set out in a crate-slat pattern, which reads as market produce packaging rather than as shop fitting. It is also an open panel, so air moves through the body as well as the canopy.
Black powder coated
The uprights and rails meet in a welded corner, coated afterwards so there is no bare edge at the joint. On a four sided island every corner is on show from somewhere.
Clear of the wash-down
The body stops clear of the floor so a wash-down does not stand against the timber. It is the same principle as every fixture in this department, and it is the one that decides how long the panels last.

Trolleys slide into one another and baskets stack. Past the first unit, each extra one adds only its nesting pitch instead of its full length, so the shipped volume ends up a fraction of what the unit count suggests.
A checkout lane is welded, coated and fitted out as one piece, so it is crated whole with padding on the steel. Nothing waits to be assembled at the store beyond levelling it into the lane, and the crate is the counter plus a margin.
Produce islands ship flat as panels, so the container arithmetic runs on panel count rather than on finished size. Two of the builds in this category carry recorded dimensions — 1200 × 750 × 850 mm for the standard island table and 1200 × 800 × 1300 mm for the tall build — and those two are the reference points a loading plan is worked from. Everything else is cut to your aisle and confirmed on the packing list.
Produce is the wettest, heaviest and fastest turning department in the store, and it rarely arrives on its own. These three categories share the fresh aisle with it.

It can be built solid, and we would ask what is going underneath first. Over wet or misted produce a solid canopy traps warm still air, which is the opposite of what the department needs. Over packaged lines it is harmless.
Yes, and it is the natural place for it. Lighting is specified per order rather than being part of the standard build, so raise it with the enquiry and the route is drawn in before production.
It is sized to the floor space and to the walking room you want on all four sides, rather than sold in a fixed module. Send the floor area and the footprint comes back on the drawing.
It is if the island sits in open floor where traffic flows around it. Against a wall or at the end of a run it is not, and a single or double sided build costs less and holds the same amount.
