Dragging a loaded basket behind you means reaching backward and taking the weight on one shoulder. For a lot of shoppers — older customers particularly — that is genuinely difficult, and they end up carrying a hand basket instead and buying less. Four wheels pushed level in front removes the problem entirely.
The body sits lower than the two-wheeled build so the load is closer to the floor and the basket is stable pushed rather than pulled. It is a small change in geometry that makes the fixture usable by a much wider range of people, and it is the build we would recommend to any store with an older customer profile.

Load closer to the floor
The body sits lower than the two-wheeled build. A lower centre of gravity is what makes a four-wheel basket stable when it is pushed at speed round an aisle end.
Steers without lifting
The front wheels swivel so the basket steers from the handle without being lifted. On a pushed basket that is the whole steering mechanism, and a fixed front wheel makes it fight every turn.
Set for pushing, not pulling
The handle is set at a pushing height rather than a pulling one. It is a different geometry from the two-wheel build and it is why this is a separate product rather than the same basket with two more wheels.

Store fixtures are light for their size, so a container fills up on volume long before it fills up on weight. What decides your freight is not what one unit weighs — it is what shape the goods are in when they go through the container door. Everything we build leaves in one of three shapes.
Shelving bays, produce islands and bulk cabinets travel as panels — uprights, shelves, back panels and plinths, strapped flat with bubble wrap on every component. They are built up on the shop floor, so the packing list and the assembly drawings travel with the goods.
Trolleys slide into one another and baskets stack. Past the first unit, each extra one adds only its nesting pitch instead of its full length, so the shipped volume ends up a fraction of what the unit count suggests.
This model
A checkout lane is welded, coated and fitted out as one piece, so it is crated whole with padding on the steel. Nothing waits to be assembled at the store beyond levelling it into the lane, and the crate is the counter plus a margin.
Baskets stack, which makes them the densest thing we ship. A column of nested baskets is close to solid plastic, so the freight cost per basket is a fraction of anything else in this catalogue — which is why baskets are almost always added to a container that is going anyway rather than shipped on their own. We do not publish litre capacities for this range. The figures circulating for it came from an old third-party listing rather than from our own production records, and they are being confirmed with the factory first.
A trolley bay is part of the front of store, and what it stands next to decides how well it works.
The lane length has to leave room for a loaded trolley to turn out of it, which is a dimension worth checking before either is ordered.

Both, if you can. Two-wheel is faster for an able shopper in a hurry; four-wheel is usable by people who would otherwise take a hand basket and buy less. Which dominates depends entirely on your customer profile.
Slightly less tightly, because four wheels take more space in the column than two. It is a real cost on a large order and worth knowing before the packing list rather than after.
More stable than a two-wheel basket, because all four wheels stay in contact. It is still unbraked, so on a genuine gradient nothing wheeled holds position without a brake.
It can, but it is not designed for it — the handle height and the wheel geometry are both set for pushing. If most of your shoppers will drag it, the two-wheel build is the right product.
