This is the workhorse of a produce department: a long, low island table that a shopper works from both sides, with the goods presented in crates or trays on a dark deck. Our records hold this format at 1200 × 750 × 850 mm per bay, which makes it one of only two builds in this whole category with a dimension we can stand behind rather than estimate.
The body is slatted timber board set into a black steel frame, with angled ends so the island does not present a square corner to trolley traffic. The slats are not decoration: an open panel lets air move under and around the crates, which on a fixture holding wet produce for a full trading day is the difference between fresh and tired.

0.8 to 1.5 mm, welded
The frame is folded and welded rather than bolted, and the panels sit inside it. A damaged panel is replaced on its own without the island coming apart, which on the fixture that takes the most trolley contact in the store matters.
No square corner
The ends are cut at an angle rather than square. A produce aisle is walked at trolley height and a square corner on a full-length island is the corner that gets clipped, week after week.
For crates and trays
The deck is dark so the produce carries the colour. It is the correct decision for a department where the merchandise is the brightest thing in the room and every other surface should get out of its way.

This model
Trolleys slide into one another and baskets stack. Past the first unit, each extra one adds only its nesting pitch instead of its full length, so the shipped volume ends up a fraction of what the unit count suggests.
A checkout lane is welded, coated and fitted out as one piece, so it is crated whole with padding on the steel. Nothing waits to be assembled at the store beyond levelling it into the lane, and the crate is the counter plus a margin.
Produce islands ship flat as panels, so the container arithmetic runs on panel count rather than on finished size. Two of the builds in this category carry recorded dimensions — 1200 × 750 × 850 mm for the standard island table and 1200 × 800 × 1300 mm for the tall build — and those two are the reference points a loading plan is worked from. Everything else is cut to your aisle and confirmed on the packing list.
