Every other counter in this range hides its structure behind panels. This one does not, and there are two good reasons to buy it that way. In a small shop, an open frame lets the floor run underneath so the counter does not read as a solid block eating the room. And in a store where the lane moves — a market hall, a pop-up, a seasonal position — an unclad frame is a fraction of the weight to shift.
The till, the cash drawer and the storage live in a separate cabinet that stands beside the frame rather than being built into it. That separation is what makes the arrangement flexible: the cabinet can move to whichever end the queue actually forms on, which is usually not the end anybody predicted at the planning stage.

Fixed from beneath
The top is fixed from underneath so nothing shows on the working surface. It is the one joint on this counter that is deliberately hidden, and it is hidden because a fixing in a stainless top is a place for water to get in.
Movable, not built in
The cabinet is a free-standing unit rather than part of the counter. It can move to either end, which matters because the end a queue forms on is rarely the end the floor plan predicted.
At each leg
Each leg lands on its own foot. With no plinth to hide behind, the foot is visible from across the shop, so it is finished rather than being a raw tube end.

Store fixtures are light for their size, so a container fills up on volume long before it fills up on weight. What decides your freight is not what one unit weighs — it is what shape the goods are in when they go through the container door. Everything we build leaves in one of three shapes.
Shelving bays, produce islands and bulk cabinets travel as panels — uprights, shelves, back panels and plinths, strapped flat with bubble wrap on every component. They are built up on the shop floor, so the packing list and the assembly drawings travel with the goods.
Trolleys slide into one another and baskets stack. Past the first unit, each extra one adds only its nesting pitch instead of its full length, so the shipped volume ends up a fraction of what the unit count suggests.
A checkout lane is welded, coated and fitted out as one piece, so it is crated whole with padding on the steel. Nothing waits to be assembled at the store beyond levelling it into the lane, and the crate is the counter plus a margin.

That is the expensive end of the freight scale, which is why a counter order is usually put on the same container as flat packed shelving and nested trolleys rather than shipped on its own. A checkout lane almost never arrives alone. These three categories share the front of the store with it, and putting them on one order is what lets a single colour reference run across the whole front, because it becomes one batch of coating rather than three.
The trolley bay sits within a few metres of the lane, and the lane length has to leave room for a loaded trolley to turn out of it.

Tell us whether this counter stays put or gets moved, and how often. A lane that is repositioned weekly is specified differently from one that is bolted down at fit-out.

The frame will take panels, but a counter designed to be open is not the same object as one designed to be clad — the frame is finished to be seen, which is work you would then be covering up. If you know you want panels, one of the clad builds is the better buy.
The strength in every counter we build is in the steel, not in the cladding, so removing the panels removes weight rather than rigidity. That is exactly why this build is the lightest one to reposition.
So it can move. Built-in storage fixes the cashier position at design time, and on a small floor the position that works is usually discovered after opening rather than before it.
It is the build most often asked for in those settings, because it is light and it does not read as a permanent fixture. Everything is plastic powder coated and protected against damp and sun, though a permanently outdoor position is worth telling us about so we specify it accordingly.
