A grain department sells the same product in two completely different formats: packets that belong on a shelf and sacks that do not. This wall run handles both by shelving the packets conventionally and leaving the base open, so sacks stack directly under the shelving that sells the small sizes of the same line.
That adjacency matters commercially. A shopper comparing a 1 kg packet with a 25 kg sack is making a price-per-kilo decision, and putting the two within reach of each other is what makes the bigger sale possible. The shelves are pale timber on light uprights, adjustable at a regular pitch.

Board on steel
Board shelves on the standard steel system. Pale suits a grain aisle because the product is mostly bagged in white and brown, and a dark shelf under it makes the whole run look muddy.
Slotted, adjustable
Slotted uprights at a regular pitch. Grain ranges change sizes rather than lines — a store adds a 5 kg between the 1 kg and the sack — so shelf height adjustment gets used more here than in most departments.
Board, full height
A board back panel rather than a bare wall. It gives the uprights something to fix into at any height and it stops the packets being read against whatever the store wall happens to be.

Shelving bays, produce islands and bulk cabinets travel as panels — uprights, shelves, back panels and plinths, strapped flat with bubble wrap on every component. They are built up on the shop floor, so the packing list and the assembly drawings travel with the goods.
This model
Trolleys slide into one another and baskets stack. Past the first unit, each extra one adds only its nesting pitch instead of its full length, so the shipped volume ends up a fraction of what the unit count suggests.
A checkout lane is welded, coated and fitted out as one piece, so it is crated whole with padding on the steel. Nothing waits to be assembled at the store beyond levelling it into the lane, and the crate is the counter plus a margin.
Grain racks flat pack as panels, bins and lids, so the container arithmetic runs on compartment count rather than on finished size. Two grain builds are on record — Grain Rack-Y01 in metal sheet with stainless board and Grain Rack-Y02 in 1.5 to 2.5 mm board — and neither is sold in a fixed size. The loading plan is worked from your compartment count and confirmed on the packing list.

Send the wall length and the height of the sacks you stock. The base clearance is set to your actual sack, not to a standard, and it is the number that decides the lowest shelf.

They look like a market if the run is designed for them and like a delivery if it is not, which is the difference between an open base and shelving with sacks shoved under it. The clearance and the depth are what decide which you get.
Yes, and then it is a conventional wall bay. Only specify the open base if you are actually stocking sacks — an empty open base under shelving just collects dust and dropped packets.
They are separate fixtures and they work well together: the wall run for packets with sacks underneath, and a stepped platform at the aisle head for the volume display. Ordering both keeps one board tone across the department.
